
Fred T. Alban, 87, of Hanover, Pa., died Friday evening, Oct. 31, 2003, at the Hanover Hospital.
Born April 25, 1916, in Hampstead, he was the son of the late Irvin and Nora Tracey Alban. He was the husband of Dorothy "Dolly" M. Hyde Alban, who died in 1973.
He served in the Army, enlisting in 1935, and was discharged in 1938. During that time, he was stationed at Fort Meade and was part of the 3rd Cavalry.
He retired from Verizon Telephone Co., which was the former Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. of Maryland, after several years of service.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New Windsor, and of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks No. 763, Hanover, Pa.
Surviving are son F. Tracey Alban II of New Windsor; daughter Martha "Nicki" Alban of Hanover, Pa.; two granddaughters; one grandson; sisters Charlotte Ott of Baltimore and Bernice Pitts of Hanover, Pa.; and longtime companion Margaret Allender of Hanover, Pa.
A graveside service was held Tuesday at St. Luke's (Winters) Lutheran Cemetery, New Windsor.
