Black Bass Hotel [Legends and Folklore]
Located in Lumberville in Solebury township, the Black Bass dates back to 1745, having served as a welcome rest stop for weary travelers since the earliest days of the settlement. For many years, it was known as the Lumberville Hotel and only got its new name after a fire nearly destroyed the old building in 1833. When it was rebuilt the following year, it was christianed the Black Bass in honor of the fine fishing in the area.
Over the years, numerous hauntings have been noted in the old hotel, including a woman who walks through the halls and has been seen in one of the guestrooms with a pearl-handled revolver in her lap. A tavern brawl resulting in the stabbing death of the innkeeper named Hans is said to be the sourceof a pool of blood that has reappeared on the tavern floor from time to time.
The site is currently being renovated and expects to reopen in the spring of 2009.
